About The Author

Nicklas Westin got interested in art and began to draw and paint at a very early age.
This interest always stayed with him and in his teenage years he became a graffiti artist and soon after he found his new calling: Making tattoos. Since the Early 1990s, he came to  develop his unique style of Japanese Tattooing wich he came to call “NeoJapanese”.

The Hannya mask was the element alongside the dragon of all the Japanese motifs that he got fascinated with the most. Later he became an avid collector of Hannya masks and has a huge collection of them in various sizes and materials, mainly those made out of Japanese Cypress wood.

During the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns he decided to use his time wisely and started preparing a studio setting for shooting high end photos of a number of his masks. The project was laid to rest for a few years until he decided to start editing the photos and curating the book.

The end result is a 150 pages high quality product that should be in the library of any passionate collector of Japanese artbooks and artwork.
