As described in this book, the author of The Hannya Mask demonstrates a deep understanding of Japanese mask culture and presents it beautifully to a wider international audience. It’s a joy to see this cultural tradition shared in such a colourful way, which is something I greatly appreciate.

The Hannya masks featured in this collection are all masterpieces; each one resonates with power and beauty, and I find them incredibly inspiring for my own work.

Today, traditional Japanese culture and crafts are sadly in decline, with most of the masks I create now being purchased by people overseas. That’s why I find it especially encouraging to see renewed interest from around the world in Japanese traditions.

This book, along with the rising popularity of Japanese-style tattoo designs and other cultural references, gives me real hope. For anyone with an interest in Japanese culture, craftsmanship, or mask art, I sincerely recommend this book.
